Certificate of Merit to Nailesh Gandhi, Express Transport Pvt Ltd India

We take great pride in informing you that Mr. Nailesh Gandhi, Director of Express Transport Pvt. Ltd., also the President of the Bombay Custom House Agents’ Association (BCHAA), was conferred ‘WCO Certificate of Merit’ by Mr Pranab Mukherjee, Union Finance Minister of India, on February 2 during a function held in Delhi to celebrate 50 years of the Customs Act,1962 as well as International Customs Day.

The WCO Certificate of Merit is awarded by the World Customs Organization (WCO) every year on International Customs day which falls on January 26. In India, as January 26 is Republic Day, International Customs Day is celebrated on January 27. This year it coincided with the 50-year celebrations of the Customs Act.

The Director of M/s. Express Transport Pvt. By giving the award, the Indian Government recognized the contribution made by Mr Nailesh Gandhi towards facilitating key issues, including self-assessment, budget proposals, changes required in policies and procedures, and macro policy issues.

The Indian Customs Department has appreciated the role played by Mr. Nailesh Gandhi in the successful migration of the Indian Customs EDI System from the ICES 1 version software to ICES 1.5 and his presentation of a concept paper on the self-assessment regime in Customs and the need for clarification of roles, responsibilities and accountability of various stakeholders.
