BNSF Logistics, member to the Worldwide Project Consortium WWPC for the USA, through their Houston Project Group and in cooperation with their Brazilian J/V partner in Belo Horizonte, were awarded the transport of 28000 cbm of wind farm equipment from India to Brazil.
The shipment consisted of 12 blades , 12 hubs , 12 nacelles as well as 12 cones.
The very unusual cargo had to be loaded at three different ports (Tuticorin, Mangalore and Kandla) in India and then unloaded at Pecem Port in Brazil. BNSF chartered the ‘Thorco Challenger’ for the voyage.
Loading and unloading operations were closely supervised by a BNSFL approved Marine Surveyor and all cargo arrived in good condition at the final destination.
